Prostitution as a political background: pseudo-sociologist and political scientist Oleksiy Holobutskyi hid a brothel network involving his spouse

A criminal case involving Nataliya Holobutska — spouse of "European Solidarity" political expert Oleksiy Holobutskyi — and her sister Dariya is now being reviewed by the Darnytskyi District Court in Kyiv.

According to the case materials, both are accused of organizing prostitution activities in a network of salons, which effectively operated as brothels. The next court hearing is scheduled for March 6, 2025.

As seen from the investigative judge’s ruling on granting a search warrant, which is in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions, "The Desnianskyi Department of the National Police in Kyiv is conducting a pre-trial investigation in criminal case No. ***00102 from April 16, 2019, on the grounds of committing a criminal offense under Article 303 Part 2 of the Criminal Code, regarding involving individuals in prostitution for profit by persons who organized and ensured the functioning of a network of salons, where, under the guise of providing classical massage services by females, sexual services are provided to males, the cost of which ranges from 600 to 5000 UAH depending on their type."

During searches in the salon premises, law enforcement officers seized accounting documents, mobile phones with correspondence about the provision of sexual services, price lists, as well as a significant amount of cash. The investigation also obtained video recordings of conversations and testimonies from women who worked in these establishments. According to them, they were forced to work under harsh conditions, giving a significant portion of their earnings to the "management."

In particular, forensic (commission) examinations were appointed within the investigation, in which the expert was to provide answers, including to the question, "Can the actions described by the witness be considered a sexual act? If so, to what type of massage do they belong?"

In July 2020, Oleksiy Holobutskyi’s wife and her sister were notified of suspicion of committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 302 (creation or maintenance of places of debauchery and pandering), Part 3 of Article 303 (pimping or involving a person in prostitution) of the Criminal Code.

In August 2020, the criminal proceedings, in which, besides the mentioned individuals, there are 5 more defendants, were transferred for consideration to the Darnytskyi District Court of Kyiv.

What is known about Oleksiy Holobutskyi’s role?

Currently, only his wife and her sister are facing trial, but according to media reports, Oleksiy Holobutskyi is a key figure in this case. The investigation considers him the organizer of this network of brothels. According to available data, operational-search activities concerning him are ongoing, the investigation is not yet completed. However, according to estimates from a source in law enforcement, his indictment is just a matter of time.
